Since moving into their stunning new home at Amber by Living Gems in Logan Village, Tina and her husband haven’t looked back! In fact, they’ve embraced their new lifestyle wholeheartedly, with Tina organising a host of fantastic social events and coordinating the weekly Resort newsletter. Phew! Who said retired life had to be boring?
Creating comradery and connection
While the clubhouse is under construction at Amber by Living Gems, Tina is thinking outside the square to create Community events for everyone to enjoy.
“We could wait for the clubhouse to be completed, but why not get together now and socialise in the meantime? We’re running so many activities, from barbecues and card games to general catchups. It’s great!” says Tina.
So, is it all fun and games at Amber? Why, yes!
Having founded the Social Committee at Amber by Living Gems, Tina has recruited a President and Treasurer, and taken on the role of Secretary. There are also a number of amazing volunteers who help make each event a success!
Making sure there’s never a dull moment, the Social Committee has organised:
- Walking groups
- Craft days
- Bike rides
- Barbecues
- Friday Happy Hour
- Sausage sizzles
- Bowls and other sporting activities
- A car rally
- Christmas in July
- An upcoming bus trip to the Toowoomba Flower Festival
The Social Club raises funds by recycling bottles and cans along with holding raffles. This enables them to put on some free events, such as their sausage sizzles. It also allows them to start building funds which can go toward putting on events in the new clubhouse once it’s completed.
Keeping all Residents in the know
In her downtime, Tina puts together a weekly Resident newsletter, letting the Amber Community know what’s coming up, along with a recap (and photos) of recent activities. She also includes local events, any markets and entertainment.
“The events I include in the newsletter are all inexpensive and I especially keep an eye out for free ones. This helps makes it affordable and accessible for everyone to get out and about”, says Tina.
Distributing the newsletter via email to those who’ve opted in, Tina also prints off a few hard copies for the Sales Office and to pop into the letterbox of new Residents. What a lovely welcome!
