About Us

Living Gems was founded in the early 1980s when people began looking at the prospect of early retirement and more fun after 50. Living Gems Lifestyle Resorts were designed for active people aged 50 plus, seniors and retirees.

Living Gems’ master planned communities were specifically designed as secure and attractive villages where homeowners would enjoy a sense of community and a host of resort-style facilities in a convenient location.

Now there are eight Living Gems Residential Resorts in prime locations throughout South East Queensland. Most are within a short drive of beautiful beaches and Brisbane. The resorts are designed for the young at heart and the facilities rival any five star holiday resort. Homebuyers can choose from a range of free standing or duplex homes set along garden-fringed streets arranged around acres of landscaped grounds.

Homeowners enjoy a country club lifestyle near city amenities. Facilities vary between resorts but expect to find a country club with a lounge, bar, ballroom and a cinema. Active lifestyle facilities include a heated swimming pool, spa, gym, bowling green, tennis court and a game room. Most resorts have a library, music room, a fully equipped workshop plus art and craft studio.

Ruby by Living Gems resident Trish Allen says there’s never a dull moment in the lifestyle resort. “While we all enjoy our privacy and the tranquil surroundings we also like a bit of fun. Activities may involve entertainment, a bowling competition or a trip away. It’s like being on cruise ship holiday all year round. The difference is we go home to a lovely home, not a little cabin,” she says.

Trish and Kevin Hiam made the move from Melbourne and set up home at Ruby by Living Gems. Trish says it was a major decision but they are very pleased with the outcome. “We researched a number of options. We shopped around and eventually decided on Ruby by Living Gems. We liked the facilities, Dudley the dog is welcome and the price suited our budget,” Trish says.

Marilyn and David Doecke say moving to Opal by Living Gems was a great decision. “You don’t need a plan to have the perfect retirement, you just need the courage to take the steps. We now play an active community role as library coordinators. We might spend 30 minutes organising the library but the walk home takes much longer as we talk to friends on the way,” he says.
