Living Gems Toowoomba

Making the move to easy living

Earlier this year, Craig and Shirley Moffatt relocated from Brisbane to Toowoomba. And, rather than call it a downsize, it’s most definitely a rightsize for them. In fact, it’s the epitome of easy living.

Making The Move To Easy Living – Living Gems Toowoomba

Simplifying life

Moving out of the big smoke and a large family home into Living Gems Toowoomba, the Moffatts are thoroughly enjoying the convenience and simplicity of their new lifestyle. They now get to experience four seasons, while still having access to the urban facilities, entertainment and dining that they love.

“Toowoomba has everything we need and want. We have the hospital nearby, great shopping and restaurants as well as the Empire Theatre which hosts some amazing shows. We don’t have to drive too far and we save money on petrol and tolls. It’s great,” said Craig.

Finding the perfect home for retirement

When the Moffatts arrived at Living Gems for their first tour, they were instantly taken with the resort.

“When we came through the gate, we thought it looked like a nice English village. The gardens are beautiful and you can see that residents really care about their homes. The maintenance team do an excellent job of upkeeping the grounds, plus they mow your front lawn for you!” said Craig.

Craig and Shirley chose a beautiful new home that was three weeks off being finished. Offering the ultimate in easy living, it has a good-sized backyard, which is great for their dog. It’s also very peaceful, yet close to everything so it’s easy for them to socialise.

Travel easy, knowing your home is well looked after

The Moffatts love to travel and have just returned home from Tassie, where they explored the east coast. Their favourite stop was Freycinet, a magical place located in Wine Glass Bay. It has everything on offer, including excellent 5-star accommodation and incredible food – the fresh oysters and prawns are a must, according to Craig.

Before Tassie, Craig and Shirley flew into Longreach where they visited the Qantas Founders Museum, the Stockmans Hall of Fame and flew out to Winton to visit the Australian Age of Dinosaurs Museum.

While travelling, the couple have peace of mind, knowing their neighbours and the resort managers are keeping an eye on their house.

Outstanding theatre on your doorstep

Going to the theatre is one of Craig and Shirley’s favourite activities. They’ve seen incredible acts at the Empire Theatre, including The Ten Tenors, Shen Yun Dance Performance, Eireborne Irish dancers, and the Royal Czech Ballet performing Swan Lake.

“Heading out for dinner and a show at the Empire Theatre is a breeze. It’s a short, easy drive and we get to see some amazing acts,” said Craig.

The Living Gems lifestyle is just so easy!

Living Gems is a community that promotes an active and social lifestyle. Whenever the Moffatts take their dog for a walk, they need to allow extra time for chatting with neighbours. The couple also enjoy Friday night Happy Hour and love to attend the dinners held each month.

“It’s easy, everything’s easy. It’s easy living. You’ve got the pool, gym, hairdresser and masseur. Plus there’s the clubhouse, a library and a coffee machine that everyone is welcome to use. There’s also a community bus – so it’s easy for residents to get out and about,” said Craig.

With bowls and golf located just around the corner, it’s effortless for Craig and his mates (also Living Gems residents) to head out for a game. And for Shirley, who loves knitting, felting, spinning and weaving, the crafting sessions at the resort are gold.
