When Helen and Nigel Greenwood decided to downsize, they were looking for a complete fresh start. From their very first moment exploring Amber by Living Gems, they knew this was the perfect place for them.
Living Gems felt right straight away
Before they moved into their new Living Gems home, the Greenwoods lived on Russell Island. With over 1000m2 of gardens that sloped down to the water, it was a beautiful property but the maintenance had become too much for them.
Making the decision to move into a smaller place, they soon began their research for their ‘next dream home’. The couple looked at a number of retirement villages and lifestyle resorts – but they just didn’t get the vibe that it was the place for them.
Then, they came across Amber by Living Gems. As soon as they visited the resort and met the Sales Manager, Tameeka, they felt instantly comfortable.
“We felt really good. As soon as we walked into Amber by Living Gems, we just felt right. We knew it would be many of the facilities were yet to be built, but we didn’t mind at all,” said Helen.
It’s a wonderful, friendly community
Helen and Nigel are loving their new life at Living Gems. They’re close with their neighbours and have met a bunch of amazing new friends.
Helen meets with the craft group every Thursday morning, which offers a welcoming space for residents to work on their own projects or just come along for a chat.
“There were just five of us in the craft group, but more and more people wander up every week. Our session is meant to run from 9 – 10am, but it usually goes until 11.30 because we enjoy a good chat,” said Helen.
She’s also eagerly awaiting the new resort pool to be built and excited to hit the gym for a regular workout.
Nigel loves to explore the area on his electric bike and will often do the Logan Village to Yarrabilba Rail Trail. He also enjoys taking their fur baby, La Nina, for long walks along the river’s edge. Plus he’s really looking forward to tinkering in the men’s shed.
The perfect lifestyle for avid travellers
After spending many years living in Asia, where Helen worked as a teacher, principal and helped set up a new International school, Helen and Nigel still love to travel. In fact, they were overseas on a European river cruise with their daughter when their Living Gems home was ready to move into!
The couple also enjoy travelling within Australia – taking their beloved dog and cat with them in the caravan, wherever they go.
