PLEASURE, LEISURE AND AN IDYLLIC RETIREMENT LIFESTYLE

Living Gems Gold Coast was designed by Living Gems founder Peter Puljich to set the scene for pleasure, leisure and an idyllic retirement lifestyle. Resort facilities include a solar-heated swimming pool and spa, bowling green, gym, library, a fully equipped workshop and landscaped grounds with a barbecue area. There is an onsite shop and a community shopping centre within easy walking distance.

Residents live it up in this village style community. Regular organised activities include lawn bowls, indoor bowls, crafts, line dancing, tap dancing, table tennis, tai chi, pool, bingo, plus recipe and ukulele clubs. The Friday afternoon happy hour, Saturday afternoon movies and a monthly barbecue are highlights on the social calendar.

Retirees enjoy a secure community lifestyle near the northern Gold Coast beaches between Runaway Bay and Paradise Point. Runaway Bay Shopping Centre is less than five minutes drive from the resort. This centre has all the major supermarkets, variety stores, boutiques and services. Paradise Point offers a village style ambience on the Broadwater with convenient shopping, a variety of coffee shops and restaurants.

City amenities, major shopping centres, medical services, private hospitals and the new Gold Coast University Hospital are all within easy driving distance and there is a regular bus service at the resort gate. The holiday hotspots of Main Beach, Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach are a few kilometres south. Brisbane can be reached by road within an hour and a rail service runs from Helensvale.

Ruby by Living Gems resident Trish Allen says there’s never a dull moment in the lifestyle resort. “While we all enjoy our privacy and the tranquil surroundings we also like a bit of fun. Activities may involve entertainment, a bowling competition or a trip away. It’s like being on cruise ship holiday all year round. The difference is we go home to a lovely home, not a little cabin,” she says.

Trish and Kevin Hiam made the move from Melbourne and set up home at Ruby by Living Gems. Trish says it was a major decision but they are very pleased with the outcome. “We researched a number of options. We shopped around and eventually decided on Ruby by Living Gems. We liked the facilities, Dudley the dog is welcome and the price suited our budget,” Trish says.

Marilyn and David Doecke say moving to Opal by Living Gems was a great decision. “You don’t need a plan to have the perfect retirement, you just need the courage to take the steps. We now play an active community role as library coordinators. We might spend 30 minutes organising the library but the walk home takes much longer as we talk to friends on the way,” he says.
