Cyclist Rides into Living Gems Caboolture

Paul and Heather Nightingale were the first to move into Living Gems Caboolture by a matter of days when they arrived in early September, 2016.

The couple, who have three children and seven grandchildren, moved from Ferny Grove after selling their house of 22 years and were attracted by the community aspect of resort living.

“It’s been fabulous — Living Gems is everything we thought it would be and then some. We’re more than happy.”

Paul worked at the Postmaster General’s Department, which became Telecom and then Telstra between 1967 to 2001. He has been cycling for 30 years and enjoys regular pushbike rides around the Caboolture area.

Paul answered a few questions for the Living Gems Caboolture Newsletter:

Favourite band?

Pink Floyd and Credence Clearwater Revival. We recently saw a Pink Floyd tribute band at QPAC and have seen John Fogarty several times, the last being in 1998. He was incredible.

Favourite holiday destination?

We’ve been overseas 15 times since I retired, and I would have to say that the Greek Islands are fabulous: we’ve been there twice and I would go again.

Best local haunt?

I ate breakfast five days a week at La Dolce Vita, an Italian cafe at Milton, for about 40 years. It is popular among the riding community in Brisbane because of its European influence.
