Bronwyn Finds What she is Looking for at Living Gems Toowoomba

Bronwyn Newman was the first resident to move into Living Gems Toowoomba when she arrived on 8 September, and has watched with interest as the resort has grown around her.

Now home to around 31 people, Living Gems Toowoomba has already developed the community spirit Bronwyn was looking for when she chose to make it her home.

Bronwyn, 69, lived in Lismore for 42 years, where she and her late husband Allan ran a limousin cattle property. When Allan died, Bronwyn decided to move to Toowoomba, a city she and Allan had admired for years, and where their son had moved (she also has a daughter and grandchildren in Sydney).

She moved into a house on a half acre block at Meringandan West in 2014, but says she became terribly lonely, so began looking at moving into a resort.

Bronwyn liked the style of the Living Gems villas, that they were well finished and that the resort at Toowoomba was new.

“I’m very happy with my house and very happy in here – it worked out fine, and when the clubhouse is built at the end of the year, it will be even better,” says Bronwyn.

Even though the facilities are yet to be built, the small community at Glenvale is coming together. Bronwyn and some friends play tenpin bowling just across the road from the resort once per week, and she also enjoys a weekly yoga class.

“It has been great here for new friendship,” says Bronwyn, who was about to head out for lunch at a local Chinese restaurant with some fellow residents.

“Everyone has been very good here; the people are very friendly and very helpful, as are all the staff.”
